Welcome to Think Pilates - the Fad-free Pilates Source

This site is the creation of yours truly - a vegan committed to healthy and green living. I came to pilates originally as a dancer, and sought out pilates to help strengthen my technique, gain flexibility and mobility, and as a way to condition during the “off season.”

For me, pilates stayed true to its every promise. I found this out especially when I endured an injury taking me off of the dance floor completely for four months and partially for seven. Directly after my surgery, and of course with the “okay” of my orthopedic surgeon, I resumed pilates.

When I went back to dancing I found that it was not as difficult as I had anticipated because of my diligent work with the pilates method. This is when I decided to pursue a teaching certificate for pilates.

I am a fully certified Stott Pilates instructor. What does this mean…

Certification courses I have taken:

  • Essential Matwork
  • Intermediate Matwork
  • Advanced Matwork
  • Essential Reformer
  • Intermediate Reformer
  • Advanced Reformer
  • Essential Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels
  • Intermediate Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels
  • Advanced Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels

  • Athletic Conditioning
  • Prenatal

While in the process of taking all of the courses above I was busy obtaining all of the required hours.

For each level of the Mat Courses:

  • 10 hours observation of a fully certified Stott pilates instructor
  • 30 hours physical review
  • 15 hours practice teaching

For each level of the Reformer Courses:

  • 10 hours observation
  • 40 hours physical review
  • 25 hours practice teaching

For each level of the Cadillac, Chair, Barrels:

  • 10 hours observation
  • 40 hours physical review
  • 25 hours practice teaching

The thorough Stott pilates examination is two parts. First, there is a two hour practical examination which begins with a complete posture analysis. Second, a two and a half hour written examination complete with anatomy.

I apprenticed at a Stott pilates satellite studio while working on my certification, and upon completion of my exam became a full instructor.

Known for my sharp eye with postural analyses and alignment, rapid fire workouts, and high energy I’m eager to share it on thinkpilates.com - so check back frequently for updates!

Within the method of pilates I have learned about the beautiful mechanics of movement and truly appreciate the gift that we all have - our bodies.
